New Community-- Prayer For India! [05 Jul 2005|01:11pm]

Greetings one and all,

This community is being established for those who desire to pray for India, have a heart for India, who are Indian (living anywhere), are missionaries in India, or just want to check out what God is doing in that large region. The purpose of this community will be cultural exchange between regions of India (anything from Divali to Desi food recipes to religious/cultural study to Bollywood), understanding, keeping up with news and needs of India, and correspondences between all affiliated with India in some way.

I look forwards to seeing what God will accomplish as we all gather together with one purpose.
--- all welcome to join ---

who wants $25? [21 Apr 2005|02:22pm]

everyone sign up for this alternative to paypal which will be opening in June. if you preregister you get $25. every person you sign up you will get an additional $5. and you don't have to enter any bank or credit card info. use promo code lasko when signing up. it'll give me $5 which i could use for every person, and you'll make $25 and everyone that registers and uses you for the promo code, you'll get $5. it's legit, i checked it out. if you remember when paypal first started they did basically the same thing. it works the same as paypal, use it for ebay or whatever other online shopping you want to do. click this link http://www.greenzap.com/lasko oh and if it wasnt obvious, since this business won't be open till june, you won't have the $25 till then.

Your eyes, they try to search for mine, but I look away. [04 Jul 2004|01:25pm]

[ mood | mellow ]

Greetings. I, for a while, completely forgot about this place. When I started it, about a week later I "met" the girl I have now been with for almost 2 years! Woo hoo! Anyways, I would like to start posting weekly quetions on my readings for others to answer and hopefully we can all learn from eachother and set ourselves free from traditions of men, just as Jesus asked of us. My prayers, my studies and my friends have been a big influence in really learning the Bible and what it actually says about certain aspects of our walk. The traditions we have been pulled into, due to corruption in the early church, such as: Constantine forcing our Sabbath from saturdays onto sundays to blend in with the pagans and their sun worshipping. Thus, sun day. So, I would like to start posting weekly quetions on my studies for others to answer and hopefully we can all learn from others and set ourselves free from traditions of men, just as Jesus asked of us. I guess my question for today would be on a very touchy subject...

speaking in tongues.

Do you believe in it? Where did it come from? Who ordained it as part of the Christian way? Why doesnt the Bible ever refer to it? Why didnt prayer intercessors of "Biblical times" use it? Did Jesus speak this "heavanly language"? Since his ways were perfect, how come he didnt command us to pray in tongues?

I am not trying to stir controversy among brethren. I am not affiliated with any cult or off beat organizations/denominations. I am a God fearing, Bible believing Christian that is trying to understand what we are supposed to do with our time on Earth. "Seek ye first the kingdom of God." Did you know in the Strongs Concordance the word seek means to research! The Bible is filled with mysteries that we as believers never really take the time to figure out. We take the word of the man at the pulpit when we are supposed to revere the man who laid the foundations of the earth. Lets open our minds and eyes and hearts and really understand whats going on in the Word.

Give me your thoughts on the question...

God is Faithful [28 Mar 2004|04:27pm]

The Purpose:
Genesis 9 [MSG REMIX]
[12]This is the sign of the covenant I am making between me and you and everything living around you and everyone living after you. I'm putting my rainbow in the clouds, a sign of the covenant between me and you and everything living, that never again will floodwaters destroy all life. When the rainbow appears in the cloud, I'll see it and rememeber the eternal covenant between God and everything living, every last living creature on earth.

This is one of the many promises God has give us throughout the Scriptures.

Most people think the only colors of a rainbow are red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet, but a rainbow is actually made up of an entire continuum of colors—even colors the eye can't see! [read more.] So are God's promises and purposes for those promises more complex than we tend to see with the naked eye, or tend to consider with our feeble minds.

There may not be a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, but there are streets of gold at the end of our time.

Post this (the code above) in your livejournal and/or profile if you believe that God is faithful to all His promises. Please leave a comment on my entry if you do, I would love to see how far this travels. God bless.

[x]-posted, if anyone cares to know.

Prayer Request for Tonight at 9pm [09 Jan 2004|11:16am]

I am a member of the seekinghisface community and tonight is the big election night for a new head leader. God has given us a very dynamic leadership staff and an annointed ministry. Day to day we face spiritual attacks on all sides, but that does not throw off the plans of God. Hallelujah!

This is to be the first night that almost all the leadership have met together. Tonight at 9pm we seek more than God's chosen for leadership, we seek the Spirit's pouring upon our ministry. We seek a unified one accord Body of Leaders. We seek God's will.

I am praying for God to act upon our ministry like He did in Acts 2.

The Fellowship of the Believers

42They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. 43Everyone was filled with awe, and many wonders and miraculous signs were done by the apostles. 44All the believers were together and had everything in common. 45Selling their possessions and goods, they gave to anyone as he had need. 46Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, 47praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.

We need prayer for spiritual protection by the Blood of Jesus, the Spirit's annointing power, and for discernment. Anything God places on your heart to pray for, please do. You will be serving more than just our leadership Body and the Lord. You'll be serving the entire Body of Seeking His Face Ministries and everyone they interact with.

If you are led, fast on our behalf.

God Bless you and may you seek his face daily.

Love in Christ,

P.S. If you are the moderator of a Christian ministry, contact me about joining the closed community christianmods.

The 2004 Spoken Word Tour [07 Jan 2004|11:03am]

For those of you considering going to see the Skeleton Key Publishing 2004 Spoken Word Tour, I say go.

I went to the Charlotte date last night, and it was well worth it. Even though they had some van rental issues and Mark Salomon had to drive like (in the words of Reese Roper) "...a dragon ninja..." to get there, it was worth the hour of sitting and waiting. All five of the artists/musicians/speakers (whatever you want to call them) read excerpts from their works, both poetry and prose, in a very intimate setting. The crowd was small, as was the venue, and there was an extended discussion section at the end where people in the audience could ask questions and/or make comments and have them respond. That, in and of itself, was equally as enlightening and thought-provoking as the structured reading.

Other than the four artists listed on the bill (Mark Salomon from Stavesacre, Leanor Ortega & Reese Roper from Five Iron Frenzy, and Pigeon John from LA Symphony), a fifth was at the Charlotte date, and looks like he's going to be a part of the tour even though he isn't listed on the billings. His name is (I think) Adam the Fisherman. I'm sure about the "...the Fisherman" part, but the first name escapes me completely. Not because he wasn't talented, though. He was extremely good and his poetry had the lyrical flow evident in a talented rapper as well as extremely deep and poigniant subject matter. Each of the performers had their own style and their own range of topics they felt comfortable disclosing in the written word, publishing, and reading in front of an audience. For this candor as much as for their skills as poets and authors, I applaud them. This show is definitely worth going to see for anyone who is a fan of the three afore-mentioned bands (as well as Brave Saint Saturn) or for anyone who is a fan of talented writing and enjoys seeing it performed in a live setting. There aren't that many dates, and they're predominantly around the Midwest and Southeast, but they're worth driving to. Well worth driving to.
